Eurostar Train Trip from Amsterdam to Paris

Reading about luggage theft and am concerned about two large suitcases in the luggage rack. There are two stops between Amsterdam and Paris. Anyone have experience with this trip? Would you suggest bicycle locks? Thank you.

I would not suggest the locks. Luggage might have to be moved for other people to have places to store their luggage or to get their luggage off the train. You don’t have to be the person interfering with everyone else.

If it makes you very nervous at the stop, get up and go stand near where people are getting off and make sure your luggage doesn’t leave.

Or you can pack Light and put it right over your seat

It only make 4 stops on the way to Paris, Schipol airport, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels.

I don't know where you are reading about luggage theft. If I was in the thievery business, I'd figure out a better way to make a living than stealing other people's dirty, unfashionable laundry.

Unfortunately luggage theft on (international) trains definitely does happen, but what’s stolen is not large suitcases from the luggage rack. Thieves know that these large suitcases usually only contain clothes, shoes etc. and your dirty laundry is not what they’re after. Thieves want valuables like wallets, phones, laptops, cameras etc that they can quickly convert into cash. Most passengers usually store these valuables in a small suitcase or backpack that they keep near their seat or in the luggage rack above their seat. That’s the item you need to keep an eye on at all times, but especially near stops. Thieves won’t steal your backpack mid-ride, because then what? They take their chance at stops, benefiting from the hustle and bustle of people boarding the train, disembarking the train, storing their luggage, finding their seats etc
