EUROSTAR tickets in advance?

I knew a foreign exchange student who told us that she would buy her EUROSTAR tickets in advance from the US and that they were always cheaper.

Is this true? The other thing I heard too is that once you get your EUROSTAR ticket and use it to say Paris, or Brussels, then you use the same ticket to travel around the city that same day? Is this correct?

Yes, buying Eurostar tickets in advance (specifically, 90 days before departure) is seriously cheaper than waiting to buy them in Europe. However, you cannot use the ticket for public transportation within the city.

Oh I see. The person must have been wrong then by telling me that I could save more money and use the same ticket to travel for that day. Amazing how some folks would pass on "info" and sound like they know what they're talking about!

What if you book the ticket and can't use it that day? That's the only thing that would keep me from pre-arranging a trip to Paris via EUROSTAR.

Has anyone tried to get a deal with train/hotel to Paris from London? Maybe as a package it would be cheaper? Does Rick do these short trips too?

You can book tickets up to 180 days in advance at www.eurostar.com.

Tickets booked from London to Brussels are valid for travel to any station within Belgium provided you continue your journey within 24 hours of arriving into Brussels. You do not need a specific ticket as your Eurostar ticket will cover you for this part of your journey and there is no need to book a seat.

Your ticket would NOT be good for local transportation that is not a part of the Belgian rail system and it would NOT be good for any transportation in Paris.

The are seven classes of Eurostar tickets, each of which falls under one of three categories....non-flexible, semi-flexible, and fully-flexible. You'll be able to find one that should fit whatever scheduling concerns you have.

Actually, you can book up 269 days in advance. I just did a dummy booking for early November....

Apparently they changed a few things since last time I used their servies!
