European Hair Dryer

Rather than buy a dual voltage appliance in the US, I have decided to wait until I arrive in Paris to buy a hair dryer for my 2-week trip this summer. Any suggestions on the best "live like the locals" store to purchase such an item? BHV? Another? Thanks!

If you are staying in a hotel, they most likely provide hairdryers. If not, there are probably hundreds of places in Paris to buy one - ask your hotel.

Unless you're planning to stay in hostels throughout your travels you don't need to bring your own hair dryer. Even 2* hotels will supply them. Occasionally they may not be in every bathroom but you can ask for one at the reception.

We bought a hair dryer while we were over. We just happed to pass by an electronics store in Switzerland while we were walking. It was the best purchase we made while over! We never had to look for a hair dryer, at the hostels or at the hotels we stayed in. Plus then you have it for your returning trips. And it wasn't very expensive. I think it ended up being around $20 US. It worked perfectly.

Thanks all! I know my hotel in Paris will have a hairdryer as I've stayed there before, but the chateau in Mer does not -- thus the question of best place to purchase.

This is what I did in London: I bought a cheap blowdryer at Boots(7 GBP, so it was like $11)and it was a Travel one so it came with an American and I think Spain (two pronged) adaptor plug, the cord obviously had the plug for Europe. I bet in France you can find a Travel one as well that might come with adaptors. Plus the bonus is that when you use one for that region, you get the full power. The crappy one I brought with me to London had to be set on low for the 240W setting. It was horrible, thats why I bought the Boots one. But it proved to be useful since Ive already gone to England twice and am going back again in November, and wont have to worry about having to get one! Plus when I go to Spain next year, I will be set there as well!
Also if I ever have my "home" blowdryer die on me, I can use the Boots one at home since it has the American adaptor plug with it as well!
