You can probably buy what you need at your departure airport. SFO international has shops that sell adapters. Dallas may, too. I think ETBD (this website) also sells adapters. Different European countries require different adapters. If for France only, it will be simpler just to buy one adapter.

Buy them in the US at Radio Shack or any travel store. It will be cheaper and more convenient. A plug adapter at an European airport will not be a high demand item and could be hard to fine. Buy a couple in case you leave one behind.

What Frank said. For whatever reason, an adapter to use with a US-style electric plug in another country, is much easier to find in the US than abroad.

I disagree. It's very easy to find US plug adapters at most any airport in the US or overseas. Most all duty free shops have a large selection of them. In addition most all of souvenir shops sell; they're usually located by the cash register. Brookstones, and Hudson News at DFW are sure to have them.

Basic travel equipment: a set of adapters from any of a million places that will take care of you anywhere in the world (cost is about ten bucks, mine are at least twenty years old).
