European airports in "crisis"....

I realize that there have always been delays and concerns with air travel, but the current climate seems more extreme, no?

Off the top of my head, I'm thinking of Amsterdam Schiphol, Frankfurt International, Berlin Brandenburg, London Heathrow/Gatwick, Dublin....

I wondered if people would mind commenting on the state of struggling airports they've been through recently (or just ones that have major problems you're aware of)? I can and will read the news of course, I've just found that forum members often have a more nuanced perspective that one can get with media alone. I'd like to better understand the bigger picture in Europe a little better right now and to hear the feelings of travelers as to whether it's being under reported or over exaggerated in your opinion.

We flew through London Heathrow three weeks ago had no problems. Our American AIrways flight was 100% full coming and going--and the American public is back traveling after the pandemic in force.

We took EasyJet budget airline from Gatwick to Athens, Greece and the flight was fine. Our return flight was from Venice to LHR on British Airways, and it was without issue.

We're hearing nightmares currently on AMS--Schiphol. They're having staffing problems. That's always been one of my favorite airports, but 2022 might be a year to make other arrangements.

You're talking about going through some good alternative airports, but just about any airport today could experience a disruption. It's just hit and miss. But you need to closely listen for talks of strikes both at the airports and railroads/public transportation. Some pilot unions talk of flexing their muscles too.
