European 2-week itinerary: Honeymoon

Hello, all:

My fiance and I are interested in a roughly two-week honeymoon in Europe, and our wedding is October 2010. I've traveled in Europe, but this is his first time. He really wants to see some of England, Italy, Ireland and Germany. I know this is a lot to fit in to that amount of time, but does anyone have any suggestions for an itinerary? We're energetic and up for adventure, so thanks for giving this a try!

I would really decide between England/Ireland or Germany/Italy. Trying to do all of them in 2 weeks will leave you tired and unsatisfied. I have done two weeks only in Bavaria, 2 in Italy from Rome North and am doing 2 in England (w/out Ireland). Assume you will go again and try a more realistic pace.

All are obviously countries. With fourteen days on the ground and one day tied up for each transit between countries, that's 2.75 days per country -- three nights.

You need to trim it down. Maybe two countries with one spot in one and two in the other.

If you want to sample 2 diverse cultures, I'd suggest one week in London and one in EITHER Rome or Munich. Look for open jaw tickets for your arrival/departure flights and a cheap flight between the 2 cities. You could do some great day trips from either of the major cities, but not have to be moving around too much. You could possibly even save some money by renting apartments.

I agree with Chad. I'd suggest either doing one country or two close together. My husband and I did 10 days in Ireland for our honeymoon and were still busy seeing only one country. The more you have to travel within Europe, the more tired and cranky you might be, you want to make sure this is a pleasant experience!

Check out some guidebooks, Rick's have sample itineraries in them (so do some others). You can see what's suggested and go from there.
