Lake Como or more time in other places?

Hi all! It will be my husbands and I first trip to Europe in September. We are going for two weeks. So far we have planned

Boston > Switzerland
Switzerland for 5 days
Switzerland > Lake Como
Lake Como for two days
Lake Como > Tuscany
Tuscany for 5 days
Tuscany > Rome
Rome for two days

I'm wondering if I should skip Lake Como for two days and spend more time in Tuscany and Switzerland. Is Lake Como worth it or is it too rushed for just two days? I know Rome will be rushed but I plan to just spend a day there on a tour. Thanks in advance for the help!

If I was taking your trip, I would skip those two nights at Lake Como and add them to Rome because there is so much to see there. But you don’t seem interested in that option. My next suggestion would be to add them to Switzerland. You could also add them to Tuscany. Those are two fabulous locations where I think you will wish you had more time. It will also reduce your time spent in transit, which is a plus.

Based on our May 2025 experience, skip Lake Como. The crowding is oppressive. This is very sad, as it previously was one of our favorite places. There is no shoulder season anymore.
Check your train connections as there will be track construction around Lecco and Varenna, so hopefully you're not traveling on that route.
No one is ever ready to leave the Berner Oberland, so perhaps spend more time in Switzerland?
Enjoy!

Thanks everyone! Do you think theres enough to do in Tuscany for that length of time? We are staying in San Gimignano and renting a car.

cfowler,
Tuscany includes Florence, Pisa, Lucca, Siena, San Gimignano. Florence alone could easily keep you busy for five days, with maybe a short day trip to Pisa. There are all those wonderful Chianti vineyards (among others). Add your extra days to Tuscany. Check Rick's Italy book for ideas (or any other guidebook), or check the Italy section of this forum. You won't be bored even if you spend all that time in Florence.
Have a great trip!
