Europe rail help

I've seen everything about Eurostar pass, to country to regional specific to discounts on regional items, etc but our itinerary is doing a mixture and trying to figure out the best way to travel via rail - if anyone has experience and wouldn't mind sharing:

Paris to Brugges (rail)
Brugges to Mainz (rail)
Mainz to Cochem and back (rail)
Mainz to Bingen (rail)
Bingen to Boppard (boat)
Boppard to Mainz (rail)
Mainz to Heidelberg (rail)
Heidelberg to Munich (rail)
Munich to Garmisch and back (rail)
Munich to Bolzano (rail)
Bolzano to Radda in Chianti (rail)
Radda to Florence (rail)

Thanks in advance! I'm most nervous about making the right connections and not overpaying. I feel better when booked in advance.

Many of your train trips are quite inexpensive and if you prefer to book in advance, when you can get the best rates on the longer connections, you'll most likely do better with point to point tickets. I doubt if a rail pass would be cost efficient in this case - passes work best over long distances and last minute route decisions and for trains that don't require reservations. Seat61,com is a good resource to find out what train companies serve which routes and for help with any train questions about Europe.

I agree with Nancy. A Eurail pass won't be of benefit.
When looking at train schedules anywhere in western Europe, I use the Deutche Bahn website. Then I book with the country specific train line for the actual tickets.

For your Paris to Bruges ticket, book with Thalys.
For all trips into, within, and out of Germany, book on Deutche Bahn site.
For the trips within Italy, book on Trenitalia. Use the proper Italian names of the cities (Firenze, not Florence).

Be aware it's not a Eurostar Pass but rather a Eurail Pass. And it is hardly EVER a monetarily wise investment to purchase one.

Mainz to Cochem and back (rail)
Mainz to Bingen (rail)
Bingen to Boppard (boat)
Boppard to Mainz (rail)
Mainz to Heidelberg (rail)
...
Munich to Garmisch and back (rail)

On all those legs you will ride local trains, for which cheap regional tickets / passes
are available on the spot. Not need to buy an Eurail pass for those days.
