Europe in November

So we're starting to plan out our November trip to Europe and were looking for some suggestions on the best places to go. We have about 16-18 days and fly in and out of Zurich. We had hoped to go out east some, but the travel distance between cities is further than we've found in western Europe so we are a bit stuck. Some places we've looked at:

Salzburg
Prague
Budapest
Vienna
Bern

However if there's a better trip we're all ears! November is a bit harder to find suggestions for.

Thanks!

We did Salzburg, Vienna d Prague a few years ago for Christmas. It was lovely. Salzburg was magical, maybe because it was Christmas. Bern would be a nice side trip.

Christmas markets in Austria start popping up on Nov. 17. Early November will be probably still fall and a bit warmer, but rainy. Later November will be more winter-like and cold. Maybe fly immediately from Zurich to Prague or Budapest and work your way back West.

Some of those cities take 7-8 hours to connect but others only 3-4 hours. Most of this is service by Austria's faster RailJet trains, except a direct Prague-Budapest route (7 hours via Slovakia).

Rome in November is just right, not too crowded, not too hot, not too expensive. The weather is good in November for central/southern Italy.

North will most-likely get cold by mid-October and stay cold until spring. The daylight hours get quite short too.
