Iceland in April 2018

Hello,

We are now considering visiting Iceland. We would be going the first week in April into the second? We really want to see the Nothhern lights and visit the blue lagoon. Any thoughts on Iceland in April? Would it be freezing? Would we have a chance of seeing the Notthern lights then? Anyone have any hotel recommendations or other tourist attraction recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Most places in Europe will be warmer than 10c in April so it really comes down to your preferences and interests.

Malta, Sicily, South of France, Italian Riviera for starters.

You need to make a list of the cities you want to see in the future. Then take the list one trip at a time. I like to visit cities that are relatively in close proximity to each other or those that travel by train is easy:
Paris-London
Munich-Salzburg-Vienna
Budapest-Bratislava-Vienna
Brussels-Bruge-Amsterdam
Berlin-Dresden-Prague
Venice-Florence-Rome
The combinations are endless. Usually the winter weather in Europe has broken by April in Europe except in the far north.

France and Italy are logical choices. Without knowing your tastes and interests, it's hard to get more specific with recommendations.

BUT, I would suggest that you avoid being in Italy over Easter weekend, which includes Easter Monday.

Do you mean you want the day's high to be at least 50F or that you want it to be that warm at 8 AM and 8 PM (or later)? There is quite a difference.

London and Paris, Vienna and Brno and Moravia.

Stay away from mountain ranges; they will probably be below 50ºF in April during the day. I suggest England, France, Germany, Austria (Vienna), Poland, the Netherlands, and Italy.

As JC says - almost all Europe will meet your wishes. You need to put down more criteria otherwise I can name almost all countries in Europe.

April is a great time to be in Spain, or Italy, or Greece. Best to go to these places before they get too hot (and crowded) for comfort.

I love Spain in April but generally, draw an east west line through Rome across Europe and stay south of that line for better weather and longer daylight hours.
