Europe how much?

Sig, Congratulations on your retirement! From now on, "every day will be a Saturday". It would help to have some idea on what type of a budget you're working with? Also, have either of you been to Europe before? Which cities in Norway are you interested in visiting? It will be easy to work out an efficient travel route once you've decided on which cities (other than London and Paris) you'll be visiting, AND which River Cruise you'll be taking. You might have a look at the cruises offered by Viking River Cruises. They seem to have excellent customer ratings, and have a good selection of routes. Regardless of which one you choose, I'd suggest adding a bit to your budget, as I suspect there will be "extra charges" (gratuities, shore excursions, etc.). The time to allow for the trip will depend on the duration of the river cruise you select. I'd suggest allowing at least four days each for London and Paris. The time for Norway will depend on how many and which cities you want to visit there. Finally, using open-jaw flights would be a really good idea. You could for example, travel London > Paris > River Cruise > Norway and then home. There are lots of possibly ways to arrange the trip. Good luck with your planning!

Budget, yes that is important, I have not yet establised a budget. Trying to figure out the best way to go and how much time in each location first and then try to calculate how much.

We have been to Europe before, two trips to Italy. One with a travel agent, one on our own. I want to visit Stavanger and I have heard that a fjord trip Norway in a nutshell Oslo to Bergen was very nice. But for sure Stavanger, London, Paris and then picking the right river cruise.
