Euro Swifties

An article in today's paper mentioned that T. Swift is taking her juggernaut to Europe next year and here is her schedule, plan accordingly and carefully. I happened to be in Seattle just after she had left and everyone in the hotel and restaurant biz was coming down from a high they hadn't experience since pre-Covid.

I know some people here are already aware of this, phred, especially those who have been trying to book hotels in the cities she is performing in at the time she is there. 😊 Yikes, I'm just glad I'm not at any of those places when she is there.

I have counted a half dozen or so new posters on here, and about as many on another travel forum, consisting of a Parent or grandparent flying with kids from the US to Europe specifically to take in a Taylor Swift concert, plus take some time to travel.

Can honestly say that I never saw that with any other event, save maybe the Olympics, even with that, only back when the Olympics drew interest. A number are probably paying for a good portion of the trip with ticket price savings over what they would have to had paid for the same tickets in the US.

I appreciate the info, because Vienna and Milan are likely destinations for me next summer, and now I know when I need to avoid those cities.

Already seen at least two separate posts about Taylor's gig in Gelsenkirchen.

Oh my. Thanks for the heads up. We have overlap in London this summer so we will look at some of our out of the way hotels and book asap.

Her travel schedule looks exhausting. Bouncing around and backtracking all over the place.

Shall we plan a more organized and logical itinerary for her ;)

Bouncing around and backtracking all over the place is less of a problem when you have your own jet.

It's all about Cha Ching - her crowd is amped. I just took a look at her Europe tour - lots of days off between tour stops - remember, she ain't riding around with the roadies.

My daughter is a Swifty and she is performing in Paris on her birthday. My daughter also loves Paris. What she wouldn’t give to see T. Swift in Paris!

Suspect venue availability has something to do with the routing.

And as has been noted, you are unlikely to see her on an easyjet or ryanair flight.

Its the stage crew who has to do the set and tear down at every stop who are the ones to get exhausted.

Yes, but they are used to it, and also are very well paid (at least in the states). And most of them love their jobs - they live for stuff like this.

Andrea, what better opportunity to give a girl the most expensive birthday gift ever! Cha ching! 🤣🤣🤣

After the US tour, she gave each of the truck drivers that move the show from town to town a cash bonus of $100,000 each, not salary, not overtime, just a non-negotiated cash bonus.

I'm guessing even our May trip to UK may be impacted, as travellers may visit UK before they head to the Paris shows.

Thanks for posting this. I usually try to check holidays etc when planning my trips but never thought about this. Luckily my trips to Europe and Canada this year don’t conflict.

Mardee, now I am hearing that song that Billy Joel wrote for his roadies playing in my head

She is indeed a phenomenal performer, as well as a billionaire. My adult kids and their kids are all fans. I was invited to go see the “Eras” movie by one son and his family, as they were going to see it while I was visiting. I started out skeptical, but enjoyed the show—- so much energy, so well-staged, and great music (although I could not understand most of the words).

And then I looked up why she was named “Person fo the Year” by time—-the first artist to have been accorded that honor. They said she “transcends borders” and brings light where there was darkness.

So then I asked my daughter-in law, a physician, who said is a big fan, who said she “unifies people”. I can believe that, but I am not sure how that includes black and brown people.

So I hope her Euro tour (as well as Japan ,Australia, and Singapore) is successful, and does bring people together. But if you are going to Europe in summer 2024, and want to avoid crowds that follow her, take a look at the tour schedule, and beware of hotel prices wherever she goes. Her concert here in Seattle=ttle recorded a record of 2.3 on the Richter scale for all the noise.

In the meantime, if you’re in North America in 2024 you should be aware of The Rolling Stones tour schedule:

You sure that isn't the Jackson Browne song.

That's the song I'm thinking of, too - "The Load Out. I love that song (and Jackson Brown). And now it's stuck in my head!

Stones tour will only impact senior centers

@ Mardee, the only way I would gift my daughter a trip to Paris to see T. Swift is if I was going with her. Alas, she has a baby who will be 13 months old in May and they use all their vacation time going on cruises. My SIL is obsessed with them. Our grandson, 9 months old, will be going on his second cruise in two weeks. Our SIL always asks us if we want to go. No thanks, cruising is not our thing. Not to mention I’m taking my other daughter to Europe this year. She has never been and her sister has. Since I haven’t won the lottery it just can’t happen.

My son was online for 8 hours for tickets for her stop in Minneapolis. He wished for 6 tickets for him and the girls in his life, was optimistic he could get 4, and checked out with only 2 for his oldest daughter and himself. She said it was the best night of her life! A month later they were in Denver for a Trampled by Turtles concert the same week Taylor was there. They didn't have tickets for Taylor, but they went to the stadium and did some Taylor-gating. That was the 2nd best night of her life:)

Oof, so tired of Taylor Swift, and also Ed Sheeran. So little talent between them. Sorry, just telling the truth. Reminds me of Madonna and Michael Jackson, hype and more hype.

LOL! I get personal opinion, but hard to argue with two artists that pulled in a combined $1 Billion plus just on Summer tours last year, not including record sales and other deals. Pretty good practical evidence that it is more than hype, though not really the music I listen too. Hope your day job is not picking stocks.

I hardly think that Tom_MN is the demographic that Taylor and Ed are playing for. Personally I’m a big Ed Sheeran fan.

My grandson with special needs absolutely LOVES Taylor Swift. He's non-mobile and non-verbal but he loves music and especially Taylor. He gets the biggest smile on his face when he hears her music. I thought about trying to get him a ticket, but the thought of the overwhelming noise, plus the logistics of trying to get a kid in a wheelchair (complete with oxygen and feeding bag) into a huge stadium was making me cringe.

But anyone who can get him to smile like that is batting 1000 in my book. So I love Taylor Swift!

I’m sure she’s talented but will her songs resonate 60 years later like the Beatles, Stones, Turtles, or Beach Boys, Michael Jackson or Billy Joel?

Well, Mardee, I'm happy to put up with the Swifty hype knowing what joy your grandson and probably many other people with disabilities glean from her music and personality!

I haven't asked her that question but certainly her legacy will be the massive Cha - Ching that she has garnered in her relatively short time in the spotlight.

In the words from the Steve Miller Band

Hoo-hoo-hoo
Go on, take the money and run

Mardee,
Definitely hope that the Eras movie will be released to actually buy and not just rent so your grandson can enjoy whenever he needs to!
Taylor is amazing & yes, I’m one of those moms taking her daughters to Ireland to see her! Could finally get three tickets so the 3 of us could go together! In the states, could only get 2 together at any of the shows…
