To clarify - do you mean that there are two of you? Adult, youth, or senior?

What do you mean by "buy a eurali pass for 15"? 15 what?

I don't really count 15 travel days in your plan. I'm not even sure that I count 10 days, although you well might use that many if you're staying 41 days (plus rental car or not?). Comparing between 7 days in a month and 10 days in two months, the additional cost is $20 per person per day. Some short side trips could cost less than that, for instance in the Czech Republic, or if you use a German all-day regional ticket. But it's small difference in the scope of your trip expenses.

One month is counted from the date of activation, such as from September 15 to October 14. That might be enough to get you from your first departure out of Paris to arrival in Prague. But if not, then having a two-month travel window is another advantage of the 10-day pass.

Between Prague and Cesky Krumlov, passes cover the national railway, which operates one daily direct train at 8:00, and others that end at Ceske Budejovice. Passes don't cover CB-CK connections by GWTrain. Direct buses are more frequent on this route and bring you closer to the center of town in CK than the train station.

From Paris to Bruges and back, and Paris to Strasbourg, you'll need to buy seat reservations on the fast trains.

The Global Pass and the Youth Pass offer passes for seniors and youth. The Global Senior 2nd class 10 day or 15 day pass is not a bad deal at all if you intend on doing night trains, zig zag and long distance rides.

From Prague to Karlvary Vary I would use a point to point ticket.

Traveling roundtrip in one day counts as just one travel day of the rail pass. You're counting calendar days, from midnight to midnight, with a more generous rule for some overnight trains. See the link on my earlier post for related info. Paris to Bruges typically takes 2.5 hours each way, which is a bit long for a daytrip, but feasible.

Great ! , then that mean I will use the train 9 times (travel between the cities + one day trip ) ..-so in my plaining which better buy a Eurali pass for 10 day this way will let me save more money than if I not buy a Eurali pass and used point to point in all places ?

  • I have another question i can use the Eurali pass in beginning 5 times then I will rent a car about 23 day then use it again for 4 times ?

For your last question, the "10 days within 2 months" pass is valid for 10 days of your choice within 2 months. The 10 days do not have to be consecutive. So yes, it works.

Ashley, passholders no longer have artificial booking limits on domestic TGV trains such as Paris-Strasbourg - only on international TGV, Thalys, and Eurostar. I also don't consider 10 euros to be an outrageous reservation fee; it's actually on the low end.

Paris to Strasbourg for 15-25 euros is only on Ouigo, which come with some annoying restrictions (30 min check-in time, luggage restrictions, no catering, doesn't work with many foreign cards), regular TGV trains are more commonly in the 45-70 euro range and since these are the ones passholders can take, these are the prices to take into account when doing the math.

This being said: I agree that Eurail passes are rarely a good deal and for what it's worth, I recommend against using them in any country, like France, that requires reservations.
