As a long time reader of this forum database, I totally understand that many in the forum audience find the Eurail Passes almost obsolete as it is better to purchase Point-to-Point tickets. I do have a question though....in search the Eurail.com and Raileurope.com databases I found there to be a 2nd Class, 3 month continuous Global Pass, 2 Adults traveling together. I always thought the Eurail Pass to be only 1st Class for those of us over 28 years of age. Am I missing something?
I believe that policy has changed. You also could not use it on the Eurostar, but now you can.
They've got to do something to get people to buy these things.
There is more incentive to buy the Global Pass now if you are traveling extensively, ie, western and central Europe, and going from London to the continent using Eurostar, going to Sweden, Norway, and to Czechia, Budapest, and Poland, using the night train options, taking the ferries for the discounts ( up to 30%), ie, Travemünde to Helsinki. I've never used the Global Pass but now since it is valid on the Eurostar plus on Polish trains, I am a lot more tempted if my trip is at least 80-100 days.
This changed when the cheaper 2nd class version was first offered as a "test run" in March of this year and then was extended, so it should be the new normal, available for all ages on all pass types. (We had news articles online in April and May, but they're outdated now.)
