From November 2023 , visa-exempt non-EU nationals, including Americans, will be able to register with ETIAS before departure.

My last notes said it would be required January of 2023. One less thing to think/worry about for most of next year.
And, just postponed again, until 2024.

Here is the official EU website - in the FAQ, you can see that they quote the date for implementation now as "sometime in 2024" -- a change that they made apparently surreptitiously, without announcing it !
