Hi I am travelling to Europe in January - Switzerland, France and Germany. I have read up a bit on the ETIAS, which seems to go into effect in 2025. I signed up for updates as it seems they are not taking applications at this time.
Could you confirm that an ETIAS is not required for travel to Europe in 2024
THanks
It is not required as there is no way to sign up for one now.
It's been postponed so many times over many years that the actual start date is unknown.
Here's the official ETIAS page which says "mid-2025" as start date: https://travel-europe.europa.eu/etias_en
CL posted the link to the official EU website and the best thing that anyone can do is just keep up with the site and check it every so often for updates.
The UK has also begun to roll out their ETA, starting with Qatar. We can check their official site at https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-an-electronic-travel-authorisation-eta
