The new iPhones support eSIMs whereby you do not have to insert a different SIM card when arriving in Europe. It is software based. Has anyone explored this and if so, what do you think of it?

The concept is very appealing. Apple Support identifies various providers and countries with eSIMs. First-hand reports from Travel Forum folks would be helpful. Anyone?
