my daughter has an epi pen prescribed to her...in its original container i am assuming it wont be a carry on issue? also what about bringing benadryl for the flight, which my dr recommended...i cant find a 3 oz. bottle of it though??
The epi pen won't be a problem. Does your daughter have to have liquid Benadryl? Benadryl is also available in various forms of pills, too.
Janna, Drugstore.com has "Children's Benadryl Perfect Measure, Pre-Filled Spoons, Cherry 10 ea"
Unfortunately I want to share betw. and 8 year old and infant, our ped. told us the amounts to give based on their weights. We leave in 5 days.....hmm...
the benadryl shouldn't need to be in the original bottle just transfer a 6 oz from an 8 oz bottle to two 3 oz bottles.
I also have to travel with an Epi pen and have never had any trouble flying to or within Europe with it. What I did (just to be safe) is have the pharmacy label the tube for the Epi pen and well as the outside of the box.
Ask your pharmacist to put the Benadryl in small bottles and label for you.
I agree with Sharon. If you look you will find Benadryl in sample size. Keep it labelled. You may know what it is unlabelled but someone else may not. It may be helpful to someone else.
I'm EMS Paramedic (and IC F/A) and I would not administer something (even OTC) outside of it's original container. The label is there for a reason with important information. Don't remove it.
As for the EpiPen. Please do carry it on board the Aircraft and with you at all times. We have them on board in an emergency but you will want your own anyway.
I like Twinjects better than Epi. It has two needles instead of just one. It is helpful incase Medical help is delayed. Speak to your Doctor or Pharacist.

Hi Janna, I also highly recommend including a drug authorization letter in the ziploc bag with all prescribed drugs. I type up a letter with all drugs listed with their dosage, our physician's name,(and clinic name), address, phone number,a line for his signature and the date and have him sign it.
If you include the benedryl on that list, you should be able to include it in your medications ziploc bag.

I was just looking at my Grocery Store flyer and saw that they have "Children's Liquid Benedryl Allergy" Bubble Gum flavour in 100 ml size. I'm more familliar with Metric measurements but I think 100ml is about 3 oz? I know that our Cdn equilalent of TSA size is 100ml so it must be close to your 3 oz rule?
Anyway, if the size is what you are looking for it's in a yellow box with a pink bottom. I'm sure your Pharmacist will be able to help you out. Sorry to post twice. I noticed the ad for the 100ml size and remembered your post. Hope that helps!
