Entry/Exit System (EES) / ETIAS

What do you suppose will happen if you’re already in Europe when these systems start? So you entered Europe without using them because they weren’t yet active but now it’s time to leave. I suspect the website for applying, when it does become active, won’t allow you to input an entry date that’s in the past. TIA

I would suspect that the e gates would be programmed to take the date of entry into account, and so would the officers at Passport Control if they had to manually examine your passport.

It’s a non-issue. Right now, your entry into the Schengen zone is already recorded electronically. So nothing will change in that respect.
The aim of ETIAS/EES system is to facilitate your entry into the Schengen zone. Questions that are now asked by the border police will have already been answered by you beforehand.

EES/ETIAS are to expedite entry into th EU. Not exit. If you entered before these programs started you're fine.
