Enough Money for 17 Days

My husband and I will be gone for 17 days starting in Amsterdam and ending in Munich. We have roughly 4500.00 for spending and our hotel costs. Would you consider this enough? Thanks, Wendy

I could surely do that, even without staying in hovels or busking for food money. This would depend on the lifestyle to which you would like be accustomed.

In Germany, I spend about $100/day, single occupancy. Traveling for two would be a little less. However, I stay out of major population centers, use public transportation efficiently (short trips, no car, use regional passes), stay mostly in Privatzimmer and small family run Gästehäuser (no **** chain hotels) and understand the menus so I can eat traditional foods (Schnitzel is less expensive than steak). You're looking at about $132/person/day - doable if you plan wisely.

Assuming you have already paid your plane tickets, $4,500 is more than plenty for me. Sleep in Pensions, buy your food at grocery stores, and take advantage of discount rail options and you could come home with money still in your account.

Thank you so much for the input. Yes airline tickets are bought and rail tickets to. We are staying mostly in pensions with the exception of Berlin. We leave in 13 days just stressing over the all the last minute details. Wendy
