Electronic Translators

My husband and I are both Geeks. Before we go to Europe we're considering an Electronic translator. Specifically an Ectaco...with Italian, Greek, and Bulgarian. It's quite a bit of money, and I was wondering if anyone has used one of these. Thanks.

Well, no one replied, but we bought it anyway. We'll let you know how it goes!

I have an electronic translator, and I'm frustrated with it. But mine is very cheap! Maybe we do get what we pay for! There are many languages in mine and is hard to work it. You may have better luck with yours since you paid more. I just like to use Rick Steves dictionaries better.
But being geeks, you may be smarter than I, and would even have fun figuring it out!
I hope you will keep us posted on how you like it. I would love to know! You can email me if you like. I may invest on a better one. I'm very glad you asked this question!
Salute! Cheers!

Hi Cynthia!

Just curious if you thought the Electronic translator was worth buying. If so, which one did you get?

All I can think of is the movie European Vacation when Clarke is trying to order lunch in French on the Champs de Mars with a electronic translator. I really think that movie segment stopped me from seriously considering the electonic translator alternative. Darn you National Lampoon!!!

Well, we bought it, and we didn't use it. But, it served as an expensive "security blanket" for us, and worth every penny.
