What adapters will I need in Hungary, Austria, and Czech Republic ?
Adapters for what? Most electric travel accessories, including computers, need plug adapters only, not transformers. Google the question and you can find a pile of sites that cover the world, often with diagrams of the plugs, and also advice about what items need transformers.
Scroll down on this link and it will show you the adapters for each country. http://users.telenet.be/worldstandards/electricity.htm#plugs_e Click on the C - E - F and it will show you a picture of that type. Hope this helps.
I know from experience that the Europlug adapter (two 5/32" diam pins) works in Austria and in the Czech Republic, probably works in Hungary, too. Note: the adapter shown in my link says "So. Europe". Receptacles in No. Europe accepts up to 4.8mm diameter pins, but So. Europe receptacles (Switzerland, Italy) only accept 5/32" diameter pins, so the universal European (Europlug) adapter has 5/32" pins. In the Czech Republic (Prague, at least) they use the French style Schuko receptacles (with the protruding ground pin). Some Europlug adapters might be too wide to clear this pin. The Europlug is an non-grounding plug, so some of the safety features in US appliances could be lost. If your appliance has an American polarized plug (one blade wider than the other, so it only fits in US receptacles one way), safety features provided by the polarized plug will be lost in any European receptacle. If you have a US grounding plug (round pin in addition to blades), you can get a grounding Schuko adapter, like this, from Amazon. It should work in all the countries you mentioned.
Thank you, JB in Brentwood,CA. Your info was most helpful. Thanks to all who responded.
You can buy these adapters on this website under the Travel Store. Since the wall outlets in Europe are deep, you will need two of the adapters for each charger. So, buy and take several adapters with you.
