EES Question

So I had my first experience with EES at Zurich airport last month, which was relatively painless. Wait time wasn't long, did the whole fingerprint and photo thing.

As it happens, I will be arriving at CDG later this month. So my question is, what now? Will there be e-gates I can go through to expedite the process, or will I have to wait at immigration same as usual, and once the officer sees my previous entry, just waives me through without further questions?

Theoretically, you should be able to use the egates and not have to see anyone.

Theoretically.

In reality, who knows. The EES system isn't working consistently across Schengen. So, the only answer anyone can really give for the time being is.....you'll find out when you get there.

Will you be able to use the egates? Maybe.

Will you have to see an immigration officer? Maybe

Will you have to have your photo and fingerprints taken again? Maybe.

You see where this is going.

My understanding is that you will go to the EES kiosk, scan your passport, and then ideally you will be directed to the e-gates.

The security features of the system also mean that when you scan your passport at the kiosk, you may be asked a few questions, you might be asked for a photo check, or you might be directed to a manned booth.

I have also been through immigration points that only have manned booths, no kiosks, no e-gates, (or not using them) so you get in line.

Thanks for the responses. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens then.

Please report back regarding your experience at CDG if you are so inclined. When we entered the Schengen Area at CDG on May 3, none of the EES kiosks were being utilized; ditto upon exiting at CDG on May 14.
