Honestly, I adapt. Thanks for asking, Kent. I can't do all that I used to do because I have a spinal condition called spondylolisthesis that limits how much I can stand and the leg room I need when I sit. I sit in the bulkhead aisle seat when I fly both on business and leisure and that makes a real difference. I can fly on regional jets like Embraer 190s if I'm seated in the bulkhead aisle. I bring a cushion that gives me significant support as well. In airports I use wheelchair service and THAT can be hit or miss. I love rail travel. There are times I wake up in pain and have to sit for a bit before I start my day. When I was in London a few months ago, there were times I needed to find the nearest park bench and sit for maybe 30 minutes until the spasm pains went away. I am not on opioids so I don't have to worry about traveling with pain killers that are illegal in many countries.
I do love to travel and it's worth it. My work involves travel and that has been more of an adjustment than my personal travels overseas. If there are flights that involve prop planes for example, I no longer travel to those locales. Somebody goes in my place but that is rare.
Again, thanks for asking. No way I could do the dangling bike seat economy seat. Reminds me of the Carol Burnett No Frills Airline skit! Check it out if you haven't seen this.
