I'm planning on earning my MA degree in the UK in a year and starting planning out things in association. A good number of my friends are going over at the same time to France to teach English. What generally are the most economical options for crossing the Channel, especially around major holidays (Christmas and Easter for example?) I'm open to slower forms of travel if it means saving money.
If you buy Eurostar tickets in advance they aren't to expensive. They go on sale 6 months in advance and the cheapest tickets sell out first.
There is an overnight bus from London to Paris (Econoline) which is dead cheap. Possibly Mega Bus, as well.
With bus, good idea, consider also Eurolines.
Of course !! It is Euroline .... I think Econoline is a type of truck. Sorry about that.
Do book Eurostar tickets months in advance to get the best combination of advance, youth, and roundtrip discounts. Prices start at $60 each way. Flying can also be pretty cheap (but not faster when you count airport transfers); try www.skyscanner.com, again with the plan to book early.
Time is an expensive commodity when travelling to Europe. So plan accordingly. With advance purchase, a high-speed Eurostar ticket between Paris and London can come really cheap, and it takes just 2.5 hours to complete the trip!
Norma - Maybe you mean Ecolines, I didn't knew it before I found it on the internet being an international bus service.
Thanks for the rescue.
