eBook travel guides and Android tablet

Last year we did a 4 month circle - UK, France, Spain, Portugal and back to the UK. We used paper travel guides and 2 laptops. This year I have a tablet and we're looking for eBook travel guides that are formatted for easy use on 7 or 8 inch tablets. Since we are in a campervan and have sleeping and cooking facilities, we don't need the hotel & restaurant recommendations that most guides are full of. Last year we had several Eyewitness Travel guides - these tend to focus more on cultural and historical info. But looking at their samples for Croatia, and Italy - they seem to work OK on a laptop screen but the fonts are too small for a tablet and zooming in & out is a pain. I have a sample of Rick's Croatia and it's easier to read - but the eating and sleeping content I don't need. Any suggestions appreciated.

Jeff,

This is just my experience using paper guide books. I havent seen anyone that will focus on just what you want. It would be nice if you could buy what "you want" but they have to cater to the people that won't be in a camper van, which is 99.999999% of us.

what i would do is to. 1. Do your own homework and make your own "book" or 2. get the books you like and "cut & paste" what you want to keep and "dump" the rest.

I got a phablet for my travels to try and use instead of my 3" 3 ring binder i was making for my travels. Unfortunately, the zooming in/out is one of the drawbacks to having a limited size screen. its either too big or too small - its never just right. Just wait until you get old and have cataract surgery.

what you can look at is making "maps" of your travels. Google maps allows you to make them and save them. Or you can look at the other map apps.

There is also some travel apps, like Tripit.

happy trails.
