Eating vegetarian in Spain?

My mother & I will be visiting Barcelona for a week.
We are both mostly vegetarian. (She does not eat milk or cheese... I do) Any tips for good places to eat on a fairly limited budget?
Thanks in advance.

All throughout Spain there is a chain called Fresco Co which is an all you can eat buffet chain. For an early supper the cost including one drink is around 8 euro. The buffet has lots of veggie choices including tons of salad choices, pizza, pasta, fruit, coffee, tea etc.

We ate their twice on our trip, and everyone enjoyed it.

Hello again. We are back!

For the sake of any other vegetarians traveling to Barcelona:
we found a very good vegan restaurant called "Juicy Jones."
(I am not a vegan, but it sure felt good to take a break from the excessive quantities of bread & cheese I had been living on for most of the trip!) The food was delicious & fresh. They have smoothies, too. And the walls are covered with vibrantly colored murals.

I only back-slid once into eating fish. (we were eating lunch in a small local place that didn't have any veggie option, and I figured why not?)

There are bocadillo stands everywhere in Barcelona which sell what are basically sandwiches. Vegetarian varieties are readily available and they are nearly always inexpensive.

Alexis, are you vegan or vegetarian? if your friend does not eat milk/cheese it sounds vegan.

Barcelona has a lot of vegetable friendly dishes...even at the tapas bars.

Have you checked out www.happycow.com? They have worldwide listing of veggie restaurants/shops. They have been helpful to me in the past. I am also vegan so it helps a lot of you know the words for dairy products in the local language. I also take protein with me in various nonperishable forms.

Good luck!!

Have someone translate your limitation into spanish for you before you leave. It's helpful to be able to say "Does this (point at menu item) have eggs/cheese/meat? in their language.
