EasyJet - Good option for transportation within Europe?

I will be visiting a few countries in Europe this coming April/May. I aim to book flights as follows: Paris/Nice/Paris/Budapest. I've heard this is a good economical mode of transportation and I simply wish to confirm this as fact. I would like to book these flights in short order and would appreciate any feedback as to what I need to know if anything relative to this. Many thanks!

Easy Jet is my favorite budget airline. They have been on time, with friendly staff, every time I have flown with them. Just make sure you pay attention to their luggage restrictions.

Yes, pay attention to their luggage restrictions. And keep in mind that they will be different in different cities, depending on how uptight the staff is in any particular place.

BTW, none of my flights were ever on time. 20-75 minutes late was typical.

My EasyJet flights have never been late.

In fact arrived 12 minutes early on flight into Bologna.

Yes, I have used EasyJet multiple times, and they were great, especially for the price. As others recommended, be mindful of their luggage restrictions. If you know your bags will exceed the carry-on restriction, pay to check the bags when you book your flight (as an aside: last time I flew with EasyJet, I actually didn't plan to check my bag and they ended up checking it for free when we checked in...but I think that was a fluke).

One other thing to be mindful of with budget airlines is that they often use the city's "secondary" airports that may be a bit more out of the way. This isn't always the case, but be sure to check where the airport actually is and arrange transportation. For example, in Brussels, budget airlines may use its main airport, which was only a 10-minute train ride out of the city, OR they may use Charleroi airport, which is an hour+ shuttle bus ride away.

Also, if you're flying into/out of Budapest, I would also take a look at Wizz Air. I had a great experience flying from Brussels to Budapest a few years back - only 15 Euros a ticket, and it was no worse than any domestic airline I have used!

Are you only returning to Paris for the purpose of connecting to Budapest, or to stay longer there? See www.skyscanner.com as a search engine for flights; on my test date, it suggests EasyJet with a connection at Geneva if you want to go from Nice to Budapest. Paris Charles de Gaulle is nobody's favorite airport for making connections, so Geneva sounds like a better option.

We have flown several times on EasyJet. Be aware they will check your baggage for size if it looks like it might be near the limit. The fares are pretty good. Flights we were on tended to leave 15-30 minutes late, but no big deal.

EasyJet is my preferred budget airline in Europe, and I always check them first when looking for flights there. I've found that the experience has always been relatively "easy" when dealing with them, whether for booking, checking in or the actual flights. The staff have always been very pleasant to deal with, although that varies a bit from one airport to the next.

They're a "no frills" airline so the seats will be cramped and any snacks or other items will be extra cost. In most cases they operate from the commonly used airports in each city rather than airports that are some distance from the cities. As with many of the low cost airlines, they often bus passengers out to the aircraft and board on the tarmac. This is usually a bit quicker, as boarding can be done simultaneously from the front and back.

If you decide to book with them, be sure to read their Terms & Conditions carefully, especially related to luggage. A few comments.....

  • They have a strict rule on one carry-on item only per passenger, of the approved size (but no weight restrictions). This doesn't mean "one plus a personal item such as a purse or laptop case", it means ONE ONLY and they DO enforce that!
  • As you'll probably be checking at least one bag, it's a good idea to have some idea on the weight. If you think the bag will be over their allowable limit for a checked item, it's cheaper to pay for the next weight tier at the time of booking. If they find it over weight at the gate, the cost will be considerably higher.
  • In many cases, they've eliminated check-in at the airport. Passengers can check-in up to a month prior to the flight and print their boarding pass at home.
  • As there's no check-in, they only have a bag drop.
  • Although not available on all flights, I've found that paying extra for Speedy Boarding or advance seat selection makes the experience at bit easier.

Easyjet usually do use "major" airports. In London they tend to use ones other than Heathrow, but it's Ryanair that goes for the real "takes longer to get into the city centre than the flight did" minor airports.

Because an earlier comment buried it a little bit and it's really important: Easyjet require you to either print out your own boarding passes before you travel or use their official smart device app to hold your passes. If you don't, you will be charged a large extra fee.

We used easyJet to fly from Rome to Sicily, and the price was right, and they run a professional, safe operation. Boarding was a little hectic, and I don't know if that's because it was Italy or because it was easyJet, but everybody got onboard and got to our destination. Follow their baggage rules and have a great flight!

Thank you all for your feedback! "Laura", yes, I am only returning to Paris for the purpose of connecting to Budapest which is the last leg of our journey. I like your recommendation re: Geneva and will investigate. We are excited.

Ive flown Easyjet 3x. The first 2 flights were delayed 3 to 4 hrs and this must've been a major fluke because those flights were 3 years apart. The 3rd time I flew Easyjet, the flight was on time. Landing in Rome and waiting 2 hours for our luggage that time was ridiculous though but I think that was the airport's fault. Do plan on paying to check in even a carry on size suitcase since you're only allowed to bring exactly 1 bag on board. I was in line carrying a small crossbody purse and a tote bag and the attendant actually had me put my purse in my tote bag! There's also a discussion going on right now under Trip Reports on Easyjet so you might want to check that out. Anyway, inspite of those extreme delays, I'll give Easyjet another chance.
