We will be in France for 3 weeks and I wanted to take my Nook. Will I be able to charge it, using an outlet adapter, without damaging my device.
Check the charger for your Nook to be sure it's dual voltage. I believe mine is and I use it for a lot more than just my Nook because it's versatile. But I have a Generation 1 Nook, so as long as the chargers haven't changed, you should still be able to use it without a problem.
My Kindle holds a charge for over a month - and I use it a lot. Are you sure you will really be using it enough to have to charge it while you are gone?
I was gonna say, one of the great things about e-readers is that they last forever on a charge. I only end up charging my kindle about once a month. Don't know if a nook is the same. No matter what you will need an adapter (unless you're charging it using a USB to another device..using an adapter). You're confusing adapters, aka the "prongs" that go in the outlet in the wall, with a "converter" which converts the electricity current between 110 volts and 220 volts. Most modern devices are dual voltage and can charge with either, but it will say for sure on your Nook charger. If it says something like 110-240v on the part that plugs in the wall, all you need is a cheap plug adapter. If it just says 110-120v or something like that, you would need a voltage converter, which is heavy and probably not necessary for a device that tends to hold a charge for a long time.
Yes you'll be able to charge it with no issues whatsoever. I used my Kindle constantly while I was in Europe; and I even managed to read the whole Hunger Games trilogy! As other posters have mentioned, your Nook will probably stay charged for a long time so you won't have to charge it a lot; but when you do it will be perfectly fine! Don't worry and enjoy your trip!! : )
Absolutely. I can't recall the last time that I've seen an outlet adapter that wasn't dual voltage. Check the bottom to make sure it says INPUT: 110-240V (or something like that with the 1XX to 2XX range). If it does, you just need an adapter to plug it into the wall (not a converter). Like this or this, but not this. Of course, my Kindle holds a charge for almost a month - and I use it a lot. Are you sure you will really need to charge it while you are gone? ;)
Yes, you can charge the Nook in Europe with just the outlet adapter. I did this last month. And yes, you may well need to charge it on a three-week trip (I did twice in three weeks). B&N's claimed Nook battery life is laughably long. Maybe the charge will last if you don't turn pages much (like a really sloooooow reader?) or read just a few minutes a day. Check voltages as recommended above, but the same adapter should work for your shaver, netbook or laptop, phone, and other electronic stuff, and weighs almost nothing.
