Dusseldorf to Weeze Airport

Hi everyone,

I am trying to help some of my students on our 3 week exchange to the Netherlands with their brief trip to London during our visit. The day they fly out from Weeze Airport, we are scheduled to be in Dusseldorf. I have done some research online but I am hoping that I might get some more tailored advice and ideas from this fantastic group of experienced travelers. The group is 6 students and their flight leaves on a Sunday evening. What options would you suggest? If you know approximate distance and cost, that would be fantastic, too!

Thank you,
Angie

According to the German Rail (Bahn) website, there are hourly connections using a train to Weeze Bahnhof and a bus connection from there to Weeze Flughafen, Terminal 1. It takes 1 hr 20 min . That connection gets you to Weeze airport at 29 minutes past each hour. The last 1:20 min connection leaves Duesseldorf at 21:09.

It looks like the best price would be a Schöner-Tag-Ticket (Länder ticket) for 5 people at 41€. If there is one other student and no adult, the 6th person would need a Schöner-Tag-Ticket Single for 28,50€. So about 60€ total, or 10€/person.

I see two flights from Weeze to Stansted on a Sunday I picked randomly, leaving at 4:45 pm and 8:15 pm. I hope it's the 4:45 flight. The 8:15 flight gets into Stansted at 8:30 pm UK time, awfully late considering it takes 45 min by train to London after you get to the train.

They leave at 6:45 p.m. from Weeze. Thank you very much for the train details. I looked into transfers via shuttle bus, taxi, and bus. I hadn't carefully researched the train yet.

Oh my Gosh! The only 6:45 RyanAir flight I can find is 6:45 AM. What date are they flying?

If it really is 6:45 AM, there is a direct bus from Duesseldorf Hbf to the airport. It leaves at 3:30 AM and gets to the airport at 4:45 AM. Find schedules at www.airport-weeze.com/en/arrivingbybus.html. The fare is 14€.

Oh dear, I haven't found any days when there is a 6:45pm (18:45). Every day has a 06:45 flight, arriving Stansted at 07:00 (FR3253)... A few days also have an evening flight FR3259 leaving Weeze at 2015 arriving 2030 (8:15pm).

Which day is it, Angie?

It is on Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014. I find one leaving at 6:45 p.m. on that day online and the students have sent me their ticket confirmations, too.

Their transit to the airport is all set now, too. :)

With respect, I think they will be disappointed. It is best to use the 24 hour clock which Ryanair, and the airport, uses and to refer to flight numbers.

On this Sunday there are only 2 flights from Weeze to London Stansted.

One is FR3253 which leaves in the morning at 06:45 - or 6:45 AM.

The other is FR3259 which leaves at night, at 20:15. 20:15 is 8:15 PM.

When you look at the flight confirmations that they have given you do you see a different flight number than FR3253 or FR3259?

I think it is wonderful that they have a mother hen watching over them. I just hope we can get the right information for you.

" I find one leaving at 6:45 p.m."

How can this be if the only airline with a scheduled flight from Weeze to Stansted is RyanAir and they only show a 6:45 AM flight that day? I hope this is some kind of a special, non-scheduled flight (charter?).

ADDED: Angela, perhaps you could share with us the airline and flight number, or a link to the website so we can find it ourselves.

I just hope they were planning to spend Saturday night in Duesseldorf and not coming into Duesseldorf in the morning, because it looks like they're going to have to be at the Weeze airport at 4:45 AM, Sunday morning. According to the Weeze airport website, only two airlines fly from Weeze, RyanAir and Transavia. Transavia only flies from Weeze to Palma, and RyanAir's 6:45 flight is AM.

Skyscanner shows two flights that day to Stansted, at 6:45 AM and 8:15 PM.

I got one to show me their boarding pass and it is indeed 20:15. One has said 18:45 early on. But, they have passes and transportation to the airport and are all set.

I'm sure the others here will join me in wishing them a "Gute Reise."
