I have used your travel guides for four years. Just returned from a month's travel in Europe. Stopped in the Dumon shop in Brugge on April 29th. Chocolates are great as your guide recommended. However the service and conduct of the lady working the shop was rude. She complained that I was using an American Express card to purchase my boxes of chocolates. The front window had an American Express sign on it so I was surprised by her comments. Since I didn't have Euros with me to cover the purchase I used my credit card. She complained that she had to call the US and pay 4% fee on American Express. Those fees should be a cost of doing business and included in the shops profit margin. My friend accompanying me refused to purchase any chocolates from Dumon because of the way I was treated. Since Rick Steve's recommendation is displayed in the store, I thought you should know what type of treatment a credit card customer received at Dumon. Jacqueline White

This isn't Rick's complaint board. Try contacting ETBD directly.
I think that it is totally reasonable for Jackie to post this comment here, given that the store was recommended in Rick's guidebook(s), and this same recommendation was displayed in the store.
I understood Bob's point to be that Rick Steves and his paid staff don't read or respond to the posts in the Helpline. If Jackie is hoping that her feedback might effect some change in a future edition of the guidebook, then she probably would be better served by contacting Europe Through the Back Door in a more direct way by using the 'Guidebooks Feedback' page: https://www.ricksteves.com/books/feedback/index.cfm Or one of the other 'Contact Us' choices at: http://www.ricksteves.com/about/contact.htm
Or better yet, go out on a limb and try a different chocolatier, even if Mr. Steves never mentions it. My personal favorite- Moeder Babelutte.
