Dumb vain question re: hairdryers in Turkey

Going on the Rick Steves Best of Turkey in 13 days trip. My appearance benefits from the use of a hairdryer every few days. Anyone know if Turkish hotels routinely provide hairdryers? I am also asking the tour department.

(For those of you who are already formulating a scathing and condescending reply about the waste of time and energy in using a hairdryer, I KNOW already, so please save YOUR time and energy for another rant.)

Lindsay,, can't help with answer, but just want to say it is neither a dumb or vain question.

Those who blithely reply they don't need or use a hairdryer just don't understand that some of us need to... my hair very fine, and it has curl that tends to look messy rather then " Nicole Kidmanesque" LOL

I don't want pictures of me looking like the wild woman from Borneo,,

Men, do you pack razors and shave everyday??? If so , why? I mean,, you COULD just save the weight, time and effort and not shave, but, you would( those who do not already sport facial hair) feel uncomfortalbe, not yourselve. Same for us ladies who need our hairdryers.

Defensive rant over, proceed with regular programing. LOL

No need to apologize, Lindsay. I need to use a hair dryer EVERY day. I don't care much about my clothers, but I am not going to enjoy my vacation if I'm having a really bad hair day every day. And without a dryer, it's pretty bad. Sorry I know nothing about hair dryers in Turkey.

i stayed at a hilton in istanbul this summer, and there was a hairdryer. i would venture a guess that chain hotels will have a hairdryer, while really small ones will not. Tho i have stayed in tiny places elsewhere that provided them. the tour dept should know what amenities are available at your hotels.

Lindsay, I have natually curly hair and must blow dry it with each shampoo. When I went to Israel last November, I left my dual-voltage hair dryer home as we were staying in 4-5 star hotels which provided them.

Needless to say, I regretted not taking it immediately. Their hair dryers were not as good as mine.

Purchase a dual-voltage hair dryer. Just don't forget to switch the dial to 220/240 whatever it says.

All you will need is an adapter.

Enjoy!!

Lindsay, I should add, that I did a RS Family tour this summer, Europe, not Turkey, but , that all the hotels we stayed at did not have hairdryers in room. In Switzerland we had do ask for one at the desk. They had 3 of them for the whole hotel,,LOL
So, while most had them, I am still glad I brought mine. Plus, as noted hotel hairdryers are usaully not very good.
