DUI Travel

Hi...Ok so I just found out that people who have been convicted of a DUI are not allowed into Canada. I am wondering if that is the same for countries in Europe. My cousin (who i am traveling with June 24 through July) got a DUI back in October. We are going to the following countries... 1. Italy - get there by plane 2. Spain - get there by plane 3. France - by Train
4. United Kingdom - by Train If anyone has any ideas on how to get the correct information or knows the answers. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks for your input!

You should obviously not take my answer as legal advice, but I am quite sure that no European country bother about a DUI conviction regarding immigration. I think there was a thread on the subject on Flyertalk some months ago. Even if they did care, they wouldn't have a way to find out about the DUI.

I have 3 DUIs (the last one 27 years ago) on my record and go to Canada once or twice a year and have never had the subject brought up by Canadian folks. Maybe they only go back so far?

From Travel.state.gov Alcohol-related driving offenses, such as driving while intoxicated (DWI), driving while ability-impaired, and driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, are criminal offenses in Canada. Penalties are heavy, and any prior conviction (no matter how old or how minor the infraction) is grounds for exclusion from Canada. Americans with a DWI record must seek a waiver of exclusion from Canadian authorities before traveling to Canada, which requires several weeks or months to process. http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1082.html Pam
