First time I'm traveling to Dublin, staying in a hostel on Frenchmans Lane and not sure the best way to get from airport to hostel

It sounds like you're staying at Isaacs Hostel. It's right by the central bus station. The simplest and fastest way to get there is to take an Airlink express bus directly to the bus station. See here: www.dublinbus.ie/your_journey/airport_services.asp. The fare is €6.
You could get pretty close by taking a regular city bus, but you would have to do a little walking. The fare would be under €2 and the ride would take longer because of frequent stops.
