Dublin in February?

Has anyone been to Dublin in February? I am thinking of staying about 30 minutes out of Dublin...just curious about the weather. Someone told me there is only a couple hours of sunlight?

I've been to Ireland (including Dublin) twice in February. One time it was fairly warm and sunny, the other time it was cold, with the very occasional flake of snow. "A couple hours of sunlight" is exaggerating quite a bit on the negative side. It was light by the time I got out on the street in the morning (7:30-ish) and got dark by around 5:30 or so, as I recall, just as it would here at that time of year. You won't find the weather much different than you would at home. In fact, it's possible that it could be warmer than you are used to, too. Just be prepared for misty rain.

Only a couple of hours of sunlight is a bit exaggerated in some ways but it is very likely you will get little sun. Light, yes, sun, maybe not.

The only time we were in Ireland, incl Dublin, was in late March, early April and it was bitterly cold, very windy and snowed heavily just outside Dublin where we were staying. Maybe we were unlucky but I would not return there other than May - September, given the choice.

I think you were just unlucky, Liz. I have never encountered weather like that on either of my winter trips. And my friends there say it rarely snows heavily.

The weather will likely be colder, if drier, in NYC at that time. Northern Europe has noticably very short days within about a month and half of the winter solstice, it won't be quite as dark in February.
