Mary, If you'd prefer a Hostel, you might have a look at THIS Hostel. It's part of the same building as the Harding Hotel, which would be a good choice for a Hotel. Both the Hostel and Hotel are directly across the street from Christ Church Cathedral, and an easy walk to the Temple Bar district and the river. The music from Darkey Kelly's Bar can be a bit "loud" in the evenings, but I didn't find that to be a problem (you could ask for a room at the back). The Bar has a nice atmosphere and I enjoyed having a pint there on a couple of occasions. I have stayed at the Harding Hotel and would certainly recommend it. I haven't stayed at the Hostel, but I did spend some time there chatting with the guests, and they all seemed to be very happy with the place. Happy travels!

I stayed at the Glen Guesthouse on Gardiner St, just behind the Custom house. This section of Gardiner is all hostels and small hotels and guesthouses. Breakfast was included, and they advertise "power showers" (and they really are great). They have a website where you can make reservations. When I was there several years ago, they offered free secure parking in their garage.

A tip on getting to the country from Dublin is to take a bus tour. We took a Bus Eirenn tour to Newgrange/Boyne Valley from Dublin and really enjoyed it. They also run tours to Glendalough from the downtown bus station. We bought our ticket the evening before but otherwise didn't reserve.

We stayed at the Harding hotel - very fine room, good location, friendly staff; however, I would never stay there again. We were told there was no guarantee of where our room would be located and wouldn't you know - we were put on the 3rd floor above the beer garden and pub - no other choice, even though we had booked way in advance and had requested a quiet room. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights there was live Irish music until 1:00 in the morning. Even ear plugs did not help. I guess that just shows we're not up to much fun. We were only in Ireland for a short time - spent 3 days in Dublin but did take the train to Howath (seaside village) and Dun Loaghaire on the 4th day, which was fun.

I have heard a lot about the Harding hotel, and it has a lot of nice features like nice rooms, nice food and every facility is provided there, but no body has discussed about its cost. So, I just want to know that is it very expensive..? ----------------------------------------------------------
Before booking a hotel for rent the prix location i.e the rental price must be known.

The best hotel in Dublin for location (the €6 airport bus stops right outside the front door, walking distance to all of the downtown sights, grocery store just across the street) but also for service (best restaurant in town is in hotel, free WiFi, nice and clean rooms, some with balcony overlooking the river) is the Clarion Hotel IFSC. They're having a sale at the moment. You can get a room anytime in 2013 you want for only €79 per night if you book fast.

Well, if you are willing to go to €60 or €70, the check out Wynn's Hotel, it's just off O'Connell street and is full of old world charm in a nice way. I've been going there for over 25 years! Another tip, if you buy the hop on - hop off ticket for the CIE bus (the green one) you get an extra day free and the airport express coach is included as well. If you want to see the coast line from Howth to Bray, buy a DART day ticket for about €10 at a DART station. For some reason these tickets never seem to be advertised! For a great evening of Irish music, dance and of course food, check out the Irish House Party.
