driving time from Avignon to Paris

I am getting a wide range of answers to this from checking on line. I am not sure which route I'll take but would like some suggestions about ways to go and time to get there.
thanks

Hi Sheryl, I have driven this route several times and I would plan for at least 8 hours. This includes time for stops and accounts for traffic snarls. I've made it in less time, but now days I like to limit my speed to about 130km/h to conserve fuel. If you are going from Paris to Avignon on the first Saturday of July it will take you about 10 or 12 hours.

Sheryl.. We do the opposite. We start in Paris, pick up our car at Orly, and take the A6 down to Provence. Do remember that if someone in France tells you it will take 4 hours then it will be twice that for you. We always stay in Burgundy on the way down and this year we are also staying in the Rhone wine area also on the way down. We do not stay in big towns, but are staying in Isle sur la Sorgue. We find it easier to park and stay in a smaller town, and easier to drive in and out of a smaller place. We can always take a train into the larger towns if we feel we must go there. At any rate the easiest way is to take the A6 to A7 straight down.

Thanks to you all for the advice...I think, given the time I have, I'll take the train.
