I am planning on renting a car while staying with friends at their villa in Mykonos. Is it difficult to get around? What about driving at night? My friends live about 3km outside of town (not far) I don't plan on driving once in town, but taking buses to the beaches, etc. I had read that it is great to drive to the other end of Mykonos and go exploring. My only concern is that I am apprenhensive when it comes to night driving in a place I don't know. And my previous experience is that while in Greece noone goes to bed before midnight so the chance of being out after dark is a given. Thank you for all your help. Also, any good rental companies? We are coming in to the port from Santorini and leaving around 7 a.m. by plane to Athens. Tory

It has been quite awhile, but we rented a car and drove around while on Mykonos. It is the only place anywhere in Europe I have ever tried driving, as the whole concept of driving over there seems overwhelming to me. Even given my apprehension, though, driving on Mykonos was no problem whatsoever. Sure, the roads were dark at night, but I just went slower. We were there in October and it was just an extremely quiet place to be. I would not have been comfortable driving anywhere else in Greece...I could barely figure out how to cross the street in Thessaloniki:)
