Downy Wrinkle Release

Is it worth bringing, does it work?? I have never used anything like it before( at home I just pull stuff right out of the dryer ) but since I plan on hand washing I know that some items dry very wrinkly unless in a tumble dryer.
Anyone who has used the Downy could you please weigh in!

Yes, it works. If you only do carry-on, they do make a carron-on size bottle. (3 oz) The large size comes in two scents. I'd suggest the "light scent" if you are traveling with any males. Not too girly. (I think the small size only comes in light scent.)

There'a another product called "Wrinkle-Free" that also comes in two sizes (one carry-on) and seems to work as well but has no scent.

The third option is a portable dual-voltage travel steamer. They weigh about a pound.

Yes - it definitely works. I've never used the travel size before (where you have to be more judicious with your use) but I usually spray it on and pull the fabric and then hang the garment while I shower and it is usually dry and fairly wrinkle-free by the time I'm done.

It is pretty great with small wrinkles (especially in cotton). It isn't so great with creases that are worked in thoroughly due to being folded for long periods of time.

Thank you for input, I have yet to find the smaller size one, so may just get a smaller sprayer and transfer some into it. Do you need a lot per item , or is it best to use sparingly.?

Try Walmart. I don't remember if I found it at Walmart or Target.

You only need a few sprays but it depends on the number of wrinkles. I usually give it a couple of squirts and then smooth out the wrinkles by hand. No need to saturate it. It dires fairly quickly.

I keep a bigger bottle at home and use it when a shirt gets wrinkled after being folded for awhile. No need for irons.

We found our travel size ones at Target on the laundry aisle (not with the other travel size things). As far as how much you need - it just depends on the wrinkles. Obviously, the more releaser you use, the more the wrinkles will fall out, but you don't need to use 18 squirts per shirt or anything like that.

I suggest buying 2-3 of the smaller bottles to try it out at home before you go so you'll know how you like it and how much you need. Then, if you are like us, you'll probably always have a bottle at home as well as taking it on trips. :)

Water works just as well (I used to buy wrinkle release at Dollar General until I was told water does the same thing). All you need to find then is a small spray bottle.

Also works well on flies. My husband went to buy bug spray when we were swarmed with flies on our rental boat in Alcase-Lorraine area. He went to the local market. He does not read French but looked at the pictures on all the bottles. He brought back a spray bottle that he thought was for bugs. Turned out to be something like Downy Wrinkle release. We sprayed it on their wings and the flies fell to the ground. We swept them up and got rid of them. I just thought I had to share this story.

Marie, thats hilarious, at least he didn't accidently buy something that would have attracted them even more!

This really does work. I use it every morning and have been for about a year. I don't like to iron and this was an absolute joy to have. All you have to do is spray and then slightly stretch the material. This brand comes in a small 3 oz travel bottle. Perfect for your overseas adventures! Hope this helps for you!

I have always used a spray bottle of water to take out wrinkles. I have a small bottle I take with me. I pack it empty and fill it when I get to where I am going. I have not really ironed for years. The only time the water doesn't work is when something knit has been bunched up in a ball for a long long time. I have very light weight cotton tops I take when I travel and it always takes out the wrinkles on them.
