I have a reservation for an English speaking tour but haven't a clue how long the tour takes...apparently its a "100 yard walk" ?? (Can't seem to get an answer to the question from the reservation center.)
Thanks-
I've visited the Grotte de Font-de-Gaume twice, and I think I remember that the tour lasted about an hour. The 100-yard walk is from the ticket office up to the cave. It's a trail, and uphill. Once inside the cave, you don't walk real far, but there's a lot to see, and the guide provides a lot of helpful explanations. Enjoy!
Thanks so much for the info on the time to allow for our tour.
Be sure and give yourself time to find the place. Even with directions from several people, I had a hard time locating the office. It may have been a bad day for a search. Have a great time.
Thanks!
It's easy to find. Head out of Les Eyzies on the D-47. One kilometer from the center of Les Eyzies you come to a "T' junction with a road that heads south. At this intersection, the D-47 changes names from Ave de la Forge to Ave des Grottes. The small office and parking lot are on the far (east ) side of the intersection a couple of hundred feet further along the D-47 (south side of the road).
