If it is absolutely for any reason, I would GUESS that it applies. BUT --- BUT -- it is all depends on the fine print and often cancel for any reason is well spelled. Second - what your damages or loses?

No one can really answer that—very little Visa usage on the forum as most travel discussed here is US to Europe based. Also- every carrier has different terms and conditions. You have to call and ask the insurance carrier.

Damages: airline ticket if rejected at the border or even before if nonrefundable tickets purchased. Prepaid hotel rooms/deposits.

You need to look at the policy and the fine print. Specifically under what conditions can you claim Cancel for Any Reason?

look for the "Exclusions" caption in your policy/contract and see what it says

I think this is a situation where you actually need to call the insurance company to discuss. I had a long conversation with the person at TravelGuard last time I purchased and CAFR wasn’t actually as extensive as I had imagined. There were definite limitations.

So whether this is an actual situation or just a what if, I would call.

Dear OP

While I'm sure the person on the phone would not deliberately misrepresent their product, people can make mistakes. And 'because they told me over the phone' won't get very far if you have to make a claim. It's safer to request to see the exact terms of the policy you have purchased/will purchase if you are worried about a specific problem like the inability to secure a visa for a specific country.

In my policy (Travel guard) any reason means any reason - you could decide the weather looks a little too rainy and cancel. But the “any reason” coverage is 50% of trip cost vs 100% for a covered reason like illness.

Your policy may vary.

Thanks for the reply.. the policies I am looking at cover 76-90% depending on the premium.

kaur, you should read the full PDF for the insurance policy you want. It should detail and define what "any reason" actually means as far as the policy you want. Nobody here can tell you; you have to read the entire policy.
