Documents

I have a trip planned for the end of next month. What required documents will be needed at that time. I have a valid passport that does not expire until next year. Although I do not have a real id, is that something that is required? I will be traveling from Washington state to Netherlands, Germany, Czechia, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, France and Belgium. I believe Poland may now be doing border checks is that right? Also I think the EES system is now being used, but I don't think the ETIAS form is needed until the end of this year. I'm just looking for confirmation on all of this. Thank you.

All you need is your passport.

If you have a passport you don't need Real ID.

For future reference keep this handy: https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/. These are the guys that the airlines use to screen their passengers document requirements. See if they fly you someplace and you get rejected at immigration the airline can be responsible to take you home. So they want to have someone who stays up to date on the subject do the screening. Naturally a better source is the country you are going to, but that isn't always easy.

I'll just add a side comment. IF in future you are flying domestically you will need either the REAL ID or you'll need to take your passport even though you won't be crossing an international border. You probably know that but just wanted to clarify that. I expect the next time your Driver's License expires you'll upgrade?

We are assuming you are a US citizen.

Also, if you have Global Entry your GE card is a Real ID.

Yes, Poland is still doing border checks due to the Russian-Ukraine war and immigration issues they are greatly avoiding in their country. They were doing border checks before the Russian-Ukraine war just to have a perspective.
I’ll be there in September. Enjoy!
