Doable schedule?

Flying into Lisbon March 29 and out of Madrid April 14.
Husband came up with this schedule today. I'm thinking we are missing areas. Suggestions on which towns to see. We've heard we should just fly into Madrid from Lisbon and then travel South to the Andalusia area as bus/train schedules/routes are very slow from Lisbon to Seville. (Hope that's understandable). Or should we take a bus/train from Lisbon to Seville?
3/30 - Arrive Lisbon 5pm; spend night
3/31 - Train/bus to Porto. Spend 3 nights.
4/3 - Travel to Lisbon. Spend 4 nights. One day trip to Algarve.
4/7 - Flight to Madrid. Train to Seville. Spend 3 nights in Seville. One day trip to Gibraltar.
4/11 - Granada - Spend 2 nights.
4/13 - Train to Madrid. Spend night.
4/14 - Flight to US

appreciate any thoughts/ideas/help. We are in our 60's, in good shape. Once I hear of a few places people have been that seem to be the most visited area; then I'll probably narrow down more thoughts. thank you thank you.

Suggestion: To avoid bactracking, see if you can fly from Porto to Seville instead of Lisbon to Mardrid.
It looks lie you are not spending any time in Madrid. Have you been there before or are not interested?

The train from Lisbon to Porto is fast and inexpensive. If either of you are over 65 is is half price.

CD in DC,
Flights from Porto go to Lisbon anyway is what husband found so we thought we should go to Porto first part of trip and then to Lisbon. I was thinking we should fly from Lisbon to Seville rather than Madrid. No we have never been to Madrid. Barcelona is the only place in Spain we have been. I'm not sure we need to Spend the night in Granada either. I think i'm seeing that trains run pretty well thru the Andalusia area. Do you have recommendations on sites etc in Madrid to not miss?
Thanks for your help

4/7 - Flight to Madrid. Train to Seville. Spend 3 nights in Seville. One day trip to Gibraltar.

Why not just fly Lisbon to Seville.. TAP and ryanair have direct flights. ( per skyscanner)

ryanair has a direct flight from Porto to Seville.

Why fly to Madrid to take a train to Seville?

joe32F,
My husband had just made that rough schedule. I assumed there were flights from Lisbon or Porto to Seville. I will look into that. Thanks. :)

To avoid backtracking, why not see Lisbon first, then go to Porto (the bus is a fast, cheap and simple option)? Then fly from Porto to Sevilla. Definitely fly from Portugal to Spain. Trains between the countries are not a good choice. Work your way from Sevilla to Madrid for your flight home.

Too complicated schedule with backtracking (cost and time).

Just line up:

  • Porto
  • Lisbon
  • Algarve (spend more time)
  • Sevilla
  • Granada
  • Madrid
