Do cars in Poland have 12V lighters like the US? I bought a Garmin GPS and want to use it in a rental car in Europe.

Many cars sold in the UK recently come with 12 volt power points which are exactly like lighters without the lighter, but with a plastic cap.

If you're after power, you're in. If you want to smoke, maybe tougher.

I haven't been to Poland,I don't smoke, and I don't rent cars, so I may not be help to you about Poland.

What I do see is lots and lots of cars from Poland driven by folks who have emigrated to the UK, and except for the PL on the licence plate and the steering wheel on the other side from the UK they look just like British ones.

It is my experience that European cars are basically the same throughout Europe, plus or minus.

Many many cars throughout Europe use GPS, and most are not factory installed.

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine.

I really think you are safe with your normal GPS plug in.

I haven't rented a car in Poland yet but want you to get some response to your question. Maybe others with better experience will chime in.

I've rented a car in many places around the world over the last 25 years (Europe, Asia, Australia) and can't recall ever having a lighter that wasn't the standard lighter we're used to. True, until recently, I didn't pay that much attention because I wasn't charging electronics and I don't smoke.

It's the same plug and voltage all over the world. Be sure, though that your GPS has got Europe maps installed.
