distance from Arch de Triumph to the Louvre

Does anyone know how far it is from the Arch De Triumph to the Louvre and how long it would take to walk it?

And is it worth trying to walk it? I'm taking my 74 year old sister and am trying to figure out simple logistics. Thanks for your input

If you want to walk some of it, take the Metro to the Concorde stop (2 stops down I think) and walk to the Louvre thru the Tuileries gardens...about 750 yards. However, if it's hot, take the Metro right thru to the Louvre.

I've traveled with my 70+ year old mother. She does really well but I found that it's important to save energy expenditures on the good stuff. Any time you can avoid needless walking, you should. You will get plenty of exercise just doing the things you really want to do.

Also skipping meals was always fine for me. I found it was important for my mother to recharge her batteries on a regular schedule so I didn't wear her out.

If you let yourself get exhausted, you will need time to recover. It's much better to pace yourself so you can stay healthy and happy for the entire trip.

Thanks for all the replies. This will be my 5th trip to Paris in 4 years but had never walked the champs elysees, so didn't know if it was something my sister should see or not, since this will be her first trip. After reading all your replies, I am going to skip it. That is what is so great about this helpline!!!!!! I love it.

Thanks again.

In several trips to Paris the only place I've walked on the Champs Elysee is from the Arch de Triomphe to the Sephora, with a stop at Laudree. This is enough for sure.

For an above-ground view of the Champs-Elysees without walking, take bus 73 to the Place de la Concorde. Then walk through the Tuileries Garden to the Louvre.

We've walked it once, but it's a lot further than it looks. The bus above ground would be a good option to see a bit. To be honest, we weren't that impressed - just lots of expensive stores. Other streets are a lot more interesting.
