Discover card in France

Discover says that I will be able to use my card in France where Diners Club Intl is accepted. However, the Discover web site omits France from the country list. Does anyone have any experience with Discover/France?

If you search for 'Discover card' on this forum you'll see several pretty recent threads. Unfortunately, places in Europe (including France) that accept Discover Card are few and far between. I would not rely on it.

Take a Visa or Mastercard,, Amex and Diners are far less accepted..

Pat, I agree on a lot you write, but I have to tell you that Amex is widely accepted in France. I know from personal experience.

Leave the Discover card at home, I found no place that takes it, even if they take Diners Club. Amex is accepted widely but most places prefer Visa or MC. Amex's high foreign transaction fee makes it my card of last resort.

It's best to leave the Discover card at home. Visa or MasterCard work well. Amex isn't as widely accepted but still way more likely to be accepted than Discover or Diner's.
