Discount Airline Connections through Budapest to Eastern Europe

I was working on a trip for the fall and I discovered that Wizzair has increased its coverage out of Budapest. You can now reach the following cities through Budapest, non-stop for under $108 (most under $50). For those looking to get off the beaten track, this opens a new world of possibilities. The number of flights is limited in most cases to two a week and Wizzair only publishes schedules out about four months so if you are looking in August you won't find them.

Baku, Azerbaijan
Belgrade, Serbia
Bucharest, Romania
Burgas, Bulgaria
Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Kiev, Ukraine
Kutaisi, Georgia
Podgorica, Montenegro
Pristina, Kosovo
Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Skopje, F.Y.R.O.M.
Sofia, Bulgaria
Tirana, Albania
Warsaw, Poland

Beware, as on Wizz, you have to pay for cabin baggage bigger than a handbag/ laptop bag per piece per flight. In my experience, they aren't the most punctual.

Easyjet also have many fares at this price if you travel midweek and book months in advance and they include cabin baggage in their fares.

Thanks for posting this James. I'm definitely interested in some of these locations.

But Jennifer is correct. Usually when we use Wizzair we end up spending twice the cheap rate by the time we pay for carry on and seat assignements. Still at under $100 its a deal.. We will try and plan a trip that flies into someplace new, like Kiev for instance. Then use the Discount to get to Budapest. Then when we have the time we will use another discount airline to visit another new place which becomes our departure city back to the states. So an open jaw plus about $200 in discount flights can tie Kiev to Budapest to Baku and back home.

Thanks for this info, James. Perhaps I can take advantage of Wizz in 2018.
