It is the Best of Turkey, in "a few weeks". Anybody booked on that one?
I noticed that he gave away the tour too. We thought about Turkey this year when we went to the reunion in Edmonds and met some of the tour guides. But our daughter wants to do Turkey and Greece when she graduates from college in two years so we have to wait until then. I am not sure I would want to be on a tour with Rick because the guides would be nervous and I think it would change the dynamics of the group.
Gail, have you ever met Rick in person, or attended one of his presentations in Edmonds? He is actually a very casual funny guy, not like he seems on his TV shows, which are professional and pretty neutral. I'd love to be on a trip with Rick, he is cool, funny, and knows how to enjoy himself! He didn't build this business by being anything else.
Dave,
I did meet him in Edmonds ( we one a prize for coming the longest to the reunion) and he does seem very pleasant but the reality is he is still there boss and it would have to be little unnerving having your boss with you 24/7 even if he is a nice guy.
@ Gail, I doubt that the Guides would be affected by the fact that "the Boss" is along on the tour. Having met the majority of the Guides, I'm sure they'll provide the same tour regardless of who is in the group. However, Rick may have a difficult time resisting the urge to "assist" with some of the duties? After a decade or more of attending events at ETBD, my impression is that Rick perceives his Guides more as friends than employees. I doubt that he'll interfere with the Guide. I think it would be great to be on a tour with Rick, as it would provide an more "informal" setting to chat with him. Usually at the tour reunions, he never has time to stop and visit as there are so many people people vying for his attention. I suspect there will be much more interest in whether he'll be "solo" on the tour. Hopefully the members of that tour will let us know! Where did he announce which tour he'd be taking? Cheers!
It was announced on the Tour News section, "Hi from Rick".
"As you read this, I'm in Italy doing my annual guidebook research and filming new TV shows. After that I'll spend two weeks riding along on one of our Best of Turkey tours (with some very surprised tour members)." Depending on how long he's in Italy, he could easily be on any one of the first 4 or so tours; shall we place friendly wagers? ;-) So far, he's been to Rome, Assisi, Siena, Florence...I don't know where he's planning to go this year for the new season of TV programs...(must have lost the memo he sent me LOL).
Eileen, I suspect he'll be on either the May 9-21 or May 16-28 Best of Turkey tours. He has to be at a speaking engagement in Vancouver B.C. on June 1, so that limits which tours he can take. I'm sure there will be some very surprised tour members! That's certain to be an interesting and especially memorable tour for all! Hopefully someone on that tour will enter the Scrapbook contest next year!!!
The Where's Rick link says he's filming in Italy, Turkey, France, Switzerland, Germany, and England this spring and summer, so I'd expect new programs from these countries.
