If you can’t read article in link, No TSA PreCheck or Global Entry during the current shutdown starting Sunday at 6 a.m. Eastern Time.
Ugh, I read about this earlier. I fly out of Dulles in a couple weeks and am hoping it won't really be so bad. I'll admit, I've gotten accustomed to almost just walking through security. I guess I'll need to keep up on the news to see how much earlier I should plan to arrive.
We fly out to Iceland next week and I am really hoping the shutdown ends before then.
Clear is still operating, and they will escort you to the front of the general line, but once at the actual screening line you still have to take your shoes off, liquids out, etc.
We get to the airport early enough that the Pre isn't that big of a deal, but I will really miss the Global upon return!
Hi! I think they might have walked that one back {fingers crossed, inserting prayers/affirmations}. I saw it on TSA X account. At least the TSA pre-check part; they didn't explicitly address Global Entry, but there's a CBP app that could work)
See this thread: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/transportation/tsa-pre-check-global-entry-paused-us-wide-eff-6-am-22-feb
Decision on TSA Precheck was reversed but Global Entry still suspended.
At SFO this news does not apply, it was reported on the radio news (KCBS, 11 AM) that it is business as usual re: Global Entry and TSA PreCheck.
I am glad I don't have either one of these .
We have Global Entry and flew into LAX two days ago. There were less than 10 people in the regular line for entry, we looked into a camera and the gate opened for us. Same as Global Entry. Maybe there were less people because of all the storms but not an issue for us at LAX.
