The deal with all insurance is that the devil is in the details. Make sure you read and understand completely what is and is not covered. That make take several readings as the policies are not written by ordinary people using plain, simple language. The writers use a very esoteric language called legalese.
I'm amazed at how little is actually covered when you start going through the details. A Trip Interruption example I read on one of my credit cards is if I was on a trip and a loved home at home passed away from a pre-existing condition, my insurance wouldn't cover me.
It doesn’t hurt to call and verify that there haven’t been changes, as well.
The warning posted by phred also applies to other trip related insurance. I was once about to purchase the “no deductibles” car insurance when I caught the sentence saying that tires and windows were excluded. Figuring that flat tires and broken windows were the most likely damage to occur, I passed on the rental company’s offer and used Amex.
Btw, their premium rental car insurance for about $25/up to 42 days seems the best deal. Only down side, it’s not available for Italy.
if insurance actually covered what they should, when they said they would, they would quickly go out of business.

OR --- charge an appropriate premium. Too many want everything for almost next to nothing.
